Maplers on Interactive worlds can use various methods to engage in player-to-player transactions. However, like every system, certain users may try to take advantage of the system for nefarious purposes. Here are some tips to help protect you from falling victim to scammers:
-
Avoid "Drop Trades"
Unlike a normal trade, there's nothing to stop any player from picking up a dropped item and running off with it!
-
Don't give items to GM Impersonators
Game Masters will never ask you for your login password and do not need you to provide items to them!
-
Be wary of "service" sellers
Players that offer to use untradeable scrolls, cubes, or other upgrade items on your equipment may simply want to help out a friend, but they also may be tricking you into giving them your item! Once you've traded them your item, they might not give it back. Keep in mind that if a trade seems too good to be true, it probably is!
-
Never share your account
Account sharing is strictly prohibited by the Terms of Service and exposes the account to many risks, including the possibility that someone accessing your account could trade your items away. You can review these steps for protecting your account and these steps to learn how to set up Two-Factor Authentication to keep your account secure.
If you've fallen victim to a scam, you can submit a ticket under the 'Report Abuse' category. Scamming is a violation of the Terms of Service and confirmed scammers may be suspended or permanently banned from the game. However, there are no guarantee that the Player Support team will be able to recover lost items, so always be vigilant and protect your items!
